The Farnes & Beadnell

Monday and an all day birding session on the Farnes. The weather was superb, the sea unusually calm and seabirds everywhere - heaven! The only slight disappointment was the Roseate Terns being temporarily absent from Inner Farne - the Puffins more than make up for it! Below are a few snaps from the day.

Swallow, Beadnell. This character likes to perch on the aerial just below our balcony, twittering away!

Razorbills with a Guillemot

Razorbill on Staple Island. Curiously there are very few Razorbills on the islands in contrast to the "millions" of Guillemots.

Now this is what I came to see!

Guillemot

As Michael Caine once said - "Guillemots, thousands of em!"

Guillemot coming in to land - it's nicked one of those thruster packs from Nasa!
