Quietish day with plenty of snow this afternoon. This morning 4 male Reed Buntings were feeding in the garden - all in advanced states of moult. At Waterworks Lane 7 Reed Buntings were observed - interestingly none of the birds I saw in the garden were in this party of seven. 4 Grey Partridges were in the field and a female Brambling was in the hedge by the treatment works. No birds observed on the garden feeders again.

At HGF the highlight was 7 Golden Plovers in the field opposite the kennels. I nearly missed them due to the snow - it was only a chance sighting of a Fieldfare landing that made me stop. Approx 80 Fieldfares were present in the field. A Grey Wagtail at the pool was the first one I have seen here for several weeks. Most of the pool was frozen with larger numbers of gulls present.

Nice to see John Tymon has finally connected with the Pennington Yellow-legged Gull - persistence pays!
